A survival guide on online classes. How to make a good value out of online lectures.

Online classes

It's been more than a year since we started adapting to situations and attending online classes, at this rate, time is becoming cruel, isn't it?

But that should not stop us from being productive and prevent us from learning new stuff. Today I present you the most effective “5 guides on surviving online classes”.

If you want to listen to the blog, here is my podcast — spotify

Let's begin with the tips and hacks

1. Wake up

It sounds very funny, isn't it?. But trust me, waking up early in the morning just like how we used to, helps the brain get ready for the upcoming challenges of the day. Why? I am assuming that you at least have 5 to 10 years of academic experience. All these days you were waking up, dressing up, having breakfast in a rush, and waited a long hour to catch a bus, and then to the school/university (whatever your transport or morning habits be), your brain had adopted that situation as “Getting ready to the war”.

In order to get the brain ready, you have to make the situations same as how it was used to. You cant expect to get a good value out of online classes in your bed, in your comfort zone. you have to come out of it.

Having trouble waking up in the morning? How about setting up an alarm? Now, please have only one alarm and try to wake up with just 3 to 4 rings. This will automatically wake you up on time.

Some might not like to bring their smartphones into their bedrooms, I personally put all my gadgets in another room because of the radiation and some technical stuff like that, it may not affect us immediately, but slowly.

If you are a person like me, who doesn't like to put gadgets near them while sleeping, I would suggest you use an alarm clock, a traditional and no side effects product, haha. If you don't have one Click here.

2. Strech

Give some movement to that body, if you are a workout person, then that's awesome. some will feel morning is good to do some exercise while some would feel like doing it in the evening, Anything is ok. But right after you have woke up, make sure you stretch a little. There are many programs on youtube to help you guide in having a morning stretch.

3. Dress-up

This is related to the previous one, yes get out of your comfortable pajama and dress up a little. This may not apply to everyone, some would feel comfortable in cotton dresses, while some will have to fully dress up in order to bring their studying environment, It's up to you how you want to dress up. Make sure you have a good morning bath to keep you fresh and ready to work the next hours. Don't overdo it, at the same time don't stay without doing anything.

After dressing up, everything will feel automatic, you will feel productive (even if you feel tired because of the dressing up session)

Let me tell you a simple example that could help you understand this “dressing up process”

You cant feel the comfort to go continue your sleep again, cause the dress that you wear are not for sleeping. and the fact you have a good dress on, probably won't make you waste the day. At least you would go to a grocery shop? just kidding. I guess you can understand why dressing up is as important as waking up.

4. Take notes

I have tons of note-taking ideas on my Pinterest account. It's ok to be not aesthetic, but just have a note and pen to scribble on while professors teach. This would help you to not feel bored just listening to class, and also would help you to pick up questions, and concepts better. I repeat it again just scribble. we can make aesthetic notes later in the day.

It is very important not to get distracted by messages and social media, so I suggest you attend online classes on PC or at least turning off notifications to all social media’s would help.

My blog and social media’s are all about Books, note-taking, study tips and motivation, if you ever feel so low or wanted to have some motivation Click here

5. Test yourself

To be honest, testing yourself on how well you understood the concept is the most important survival guide.

How to test yourself?

You would have scribbled while taking notes, as per the last tip, Now it's time to put it all together.

  • Make a flow chart on the concept, it will be fun as putting some puzzles together (make sure you use your scribbled note only as a reference)
  • Write the questions you have got on the next page
  • Find the answers to all your questions via books, the internet, or even teachers.
  • Work on some question papers, either self-made or find some on the internet. if you have activities given daily like mine, then that is even better.

Have fun

It all comes to end with just one question, “Was it fun?” Because if you can't enjoy the process, then there would be no meaning in pushing yourself so hard at the start of the day.

Try different things and see which methods work for you better, and stick with it. don't be afraid to change/switch things up.

If you do not feel like doing anything that day, take a rest, read some books instead. you don't need to repeat the same routine on a daily basis. Here are some of my book recommendations — click here

Spice things up, and make sure to “ENJOY THE PROCESS”

If you have any tips and tricks that could help others, leave them in the comments, that way we can help each other!
